BasicsEdit

  • Having a basic zombie escape gameplay experience before playing this map is highly recommended for the higher levels!
  • Knowing how to use items. (By default it's pressing 'E'.)
  • Read the weapons articles to set up a good weapon-set before playing.
  • It can be very, very helpful if you play the map once on your own to learn all the spots and routes on each different level.

Items (Pickable)Edit


Following Final Fantasy VII, the Special Items in this map are called "Materia", named in console commands. There are 8 Materia which can be picked up by players.

A frequently asked question is: "How do I pick up items??"
It's very easy: You drop your pistol which you are holding, and then walk through the item/prop. If you have re-picked a pistol and the object is following you, then you picked up the object. If you want to drop it again, simply drop you pistol.

These are all the Materia and their effect:

Heal Materia Edit

The "Heal" materia has the ability to heal humans inside it's range (100 HP on the Normal Mode, 150 HP on the Hard Mode and 225 HP along with 6 seconds of invulnerability on the Extreme Modes). The healing area has a range which is capable of touching all players together at the reactor core, so you don't have to stand right inside the materia effect to get healed.

Ice Materia Edit

The "Ice" materia creates an area of ice in front of the user that freezes the zombies inside for around 6 seconds on Normal Mode. On Hard Mode the area becomes noticeable longer while the duration is almost the same. On Extreme Modes it becomes a huge area all around the user. As all materias that slow or freeze, the speed given back to the ones affected by it its decided by the mapper; so frozen zombies could get a speed boost (or nerf) after the effects wears of, depending on server settings. Also, knockback still affects frozen zombies even if they can't move: when they are allowed to move again all the knockback that they recived will act at once, usually making them fly backwards. (Notice that ice will un-ignite zombies ignited by Fire Materia)

Fire Materia Edit

On Normal Mode the "Fire" materia creates a brief and small frontal cone of fire that ignites the zombies inside. On Hard Mode it makes a firewall that follows you for 5 seconds with the same effects. On the Extreme Modes the firewall becomes a huge area all around the user and its duration is increased again. (Notice that fire will un-froze zombies frozen by Ice Materia).

Wind Materia Edit

On Normal Mode the "Wind" materia will create a small wind push in front of the user that can slow the zombies, but isn't strong enough to push them back (may be able depending on server settings). On Hard Mode both the push and area are increased, and is very effective to send zombies far away. On Extreme Mode the area becomes a tornado surrounding the user and even if arguably less powerful than its Hard counterpart, it becomes extremely usefull to remain safe for some seconds while completly surrounded by zombies. Using this materia whilel giving your back to the zombies on Normal and Hard won't have any effect, since the push is only in front of you. Also, using it while being behind of zombies will probably push them into the humans ahead and is considered griefing.

Electro Materia Edit

The "Electro" materia remains the same on all game modes, and instead of becoming more powerful gains an aditional charge, having 2 on Hard and 3 on Extreme Modes. It creates an area in the ground that hurts (only for 1 damage) the zombies inside. The idea is not to help you killing the zombies, but to slow them with the ticks of damage. Its particulary usefull on places where the zombies need to make a long jump or walk while crouching, where the damage ticks become more noticeable. This materia used to make more damage, but many players were abusing it to kill winning humans in the final bunker when the engine turned them back to terrorist team. Its particle also got drastically reduced because it lagged many players and made it really hard to see zombies throught it, making them more of a help for the zombies than the humans it should.

Earth Materia Edit

The "Earth" materia remains the same all the difficulties. When used it will create a wall of earth in front of the user that completly blocks the path and stays for around 6 seconds. This wall can be broken by human damage and will be destroyed easily if placed while they are shooting. Earth blocks humans aswel, so you must be careful when placing it so you don't left behind any teammate and to make sure the wall won't get destroyed before people can react to its aparition. (Note that this materia will automatically break while inside of the elevator to prevent blocking humans there on purpose).

Gravity Materia Edit

Like Earth, the "Gravity" materia remains the same throught all the difficulties. It creates a black hole (even if sometimes is colored) that will suck all near zombies towards its center. Once caught inside it, it's arguably inescapable until it wears off, which is around 6 seconds. This materia can be the most successful one at stopping zombies if used correctly, but at the same time it can be fatal for humans if used wrongly, since when used at close range it will still attract the zombies but they will be in range of infesting you. (Notice that Gravity will un-froze zombies frozen by Ice, since it gives a slow value).

Ultima Materia Edit

The "Ultima" materia is the most powerful materia in Mako Reactor and is limited to one use only. It remains the same throught all difficulties but does not spawn on the Normal difficulty. It creates a big green area of light while charing; after charging for 20 seconds it will explode, killing all zombies that are in its range. (Note that Ultima will not kill zombies located in the zombie cage (behind Bahamut) to prevent a sudden or early win).

ScoreEdit


When you kill Sephiroth in Hard Mode and Extreme Mode, you receive 100 points.

When you survive of the final attack of Sephiroth in Extreme Mode, you receive 100 points.

When you arrive in the bunker in Extreme 2, you receive 1000 points !!!!

Player spawns Edit

Spawn groups with car numbers marked, and zombie spawn.

There are always 6 spawn groups at the beginning of each round, which are in the trains. Their doors open after 30 seconds.

The trains' interior looks very similar, but you can get your location by reading its car number. The spawn groups are numbered A3, A5, A7, B2, B4 and B7. Their locations are widely spread, thus the number you read determines your strategy much, whether pick materia, press the door button or defend.

Team of Humans Edit

At the spawn, before anyone has been picked to be the motherzombie(s), humans are still classified as Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists, while this limits the possible spawn you at.

  • If you are a CT, you will only spawn in cars B2, B7 or A5;
  • if you are a T, you will only spawn in cars B4, A3 or A7.

Summarize with the upcoming sections discussing the fastest routes, CTs will have a higher probability to get away from the spawn area earlier.

Read your Spawn Edit

The car number is labeled in the front side (towards the Reactor) of every cars, and also the back side of cars except A5 and A7, which are the farthest cars from the goal.

Identify the Way to Go Edit

There are many ways to identify which side is the front, some are rather easy. When the gate breaks, when everyone is racing, you can avoid getting to the wrong direction, or rely to the outside environment if you know one of the following.

  • TIPS

    The level label, car number label and the TIPS board.

    The board "TIPS" placed at, which is the front side. However this board is missing in car A7.
  • The side the A5 or A7 label labeled, which is the front side.
  • The radar. If you set it static, then the upper way, or "North", is the front direction.

For aiming to exit through the ladder way:

  • Look outside through the upper gate. Climb the ladder, yon can see the green light, the Mako energy, which is the goal.
  • While the ladder is not perpendicular to the floor, the way the upper side bends to is the front direction.
For aiming to exit through the ground way:
BlueRay

The looking direction without the blue ray.

  • The side you are, by reading the car number. A is considered the left side, and B the right. If you are on the left side, go right; on the right side, go left.
  • The direction of the blue light ray the car interior emits. It bends to the front, so if your view is pointing at the place with no blue ray, you are facing the wrong way.

Shortest Routes Edit

Players in Counter-Strike: Source run in a fixed speed. It can be increased by a technique, but the difference is small, though. This map features in various powerful Special Items, materia. But even you know how to make good use of them well, the first step is, you have to pick them up and be the fastest one to do this. So you may want to choose a wise route to run, starting from the very beginning.

This is an overview of the spawn area.

Spawn

The points labeled will be referred later. Z stands for zombie spawn, G stands for the goal of this section. For the car exits, their car numbers are used, and the ladder exits are marked with " ' "s, otherwise they are lower exits. Other points are common points to be passed through. Always jump instead of climbing the whole ladder at point K.

Points I1 to I4 are expressed as I simply because the time taken for the two routes I1 > I4 and I1 > I2 > I3 > I4 are nearly the same.

Car B2 Edit

Spawn B2
Congratulations, you are at the car with the shortest routes to the goal. You are highly recommended to go picking materia, or triggering the superior door opening.

There are several routes people commonly take, listing here starting with time needed.

  • 9.5". B2' > D > E > F > G
  • 10.5". B2 > H > K > L > G
  • 11.0". B2 > H > I > L > G
  • 12.5". B2' > J > K > L > G

You should take the upper way, but after that never take the ladder, instead you should turn left; you may even face left and press the right direction while waiting the gate opens.

Car A3 Edit

As a terrorist, this is the car closest to the goal. Being on the left side, you are recommended to take the lower exit because the ladder exit is located at the back.
  • 11.0". A3 > E > F > G
  • 12.5". A3' > (D >) E > F > G

The upper exit is taken only for defending, but as the car the second closest to the goal, it is considerable to take other actions instead of holding.

Car B4 Edit

The right side (B) which this car located at seems to have shorter routes than the left side, in many players' view[?], but in fact this depends on which exit you take.

  • 11.0". B4' > D > E > F > G
  • 13.0". B4 > H > K > L > G
  • 13.5". B4 > H > I > L > G

The route B4' > J > K is hidden because it will surely delay.

Car B7 Edit

The (possible) farthest car for CTs. Remember to take the upper exit and due left, or you will be even slower than those from A7, the least preferred car.
  • 13.0". B7' > D > E > F > G
  • 15.5". B7 > H > K > L > G
  • 16.0". B7 > H > I > L > G

At this spawn it is worth taking own decisions for moving or defending.

Cars A5 and A7 Edit

A5 is another possible farthest car for CTs; A7 is definitely the one of Ts. It is more highly preferred to help defending, especially for players spawning in A7.
  • 13.0". A5 > E > F > G
  • 14.5". A5' > (D >) E > F > G
  • 15.5". A7 > E > F > G
  • 17.5". A7' > (D >) E > F > G

The time counts here are for references more than the previous ones, because they mean nothing to the defenders. It is easier to defend on the train top because zombies will first land on there mostly.

The most unwise route is A7' > H > I > L > G, which takes 21 seconds. A7' > (J >) K > L > G also takes the similar time.

Conclusion Edit

Being a CT will have a slightly higher chance to have a shorter route towards the city area. (Sum of the fastest time needed for the three CT cars is 35.5", while for T it is 37.5".)

It is suggested to head to the city area immediately for those who spawn in cars B2, A3 and B4, and to stay in the station to defend for a while for those who spawn in car A7. Neutral for B7 and A5.

For those who prefer to approach the city area faster, always take the lower exit when in A cars, and always take the ladder exit when in B cars. Do not go towards the small ladder under the Sephiroth picture after taking the ladder exits. For defenders, it is recommended to defend at the top of the trains.

Defending at the Spawn Edit

People who defend at the spawn usually take the following two actions:

TunnelDefend

Humans defending at the tunnel.

  • Shooting. Anyone at the middle or the last of the team can do this. It is better to shoot from the top of the trains, stopping zombies just after they are spawned. If some zombies have landed on the platform, other humans should also shoot them when running.
  • Spamming grenades.* Throw grenade to zombies and immediately buy one more. This is preferred to be done above the train at location D, which is within the buy zone. If you already get off from there, you can buy grenades only after entering the trains again.

Afterwards, on Normal, Hard and Extreme, humans will also defend at the tunnel connecting the spawn and the city, which is the only connection. On Extreme II this does not work because there is another way opens.

The following are walk-through guides for the 5 levels of the map.

Normal ModeEdit


You start in the train, when doors are open you must go towards Cloud. After you can take 3 ways:

  • The left way, there is always one Materia to pick up. (zombie doesn't often pass through)
  • The middle way, there is sometimes 1 Materia. (zombie always pass through)
  • The right way, there is always one Materia to pick up, you can pass by the house or by the cinema. (zombie often pass through)

When you arrive at the door, press the button ( the door open after 30 secondes) and cover the 3 ways, after it is open go to the second door (open after 10 secondes) , it can have the Earth Materia at the top of the pipes. When the door open, lot of players must cover the door and the other must go activate (when its write "door opening in 10 seconds", players who cover must join the other players), the door open activate the second door (open after 5 secondes). The door open go to the elevator and activate it ( you can take the Materia if there is it).

The elevator will descent after 10 seconds, when it is open, watch at the left if there is a Materia then go to the stairs at the right, descend then take the Materia behind the stairs if there is it. Go to the ladder and descend, go on the pipes then join Cloud at the bottom and after go to the reactor and cover if zombies are here. When zombies are teleported the Red Monster arrive, you must kill it by shoot it (he has one attack: he hurt humans and they lost 55 HP but he doesn't often use his attack a 2nd time).

When he is dead you must make the same way in reverse, if you have Gravity Materia use it when zombie arrive in the pipes then leave, you must join the elevator and activate it (elevator leaving after 10 secondes). When the elevator is in the room, 1 player must go activate the 3 buttons and the other player must cover (the door open after 10 secondes). Then follow Cloud to the bunker and cover, if no zombies enter in the bunker you win the NORMAL MODE.


AFTER THIS IS THE HARD LEVEL

Hard ModeEdit


You start in the train, when doors are open you must go towards Cloud. After you can take 3 ways:

  • The left way, there is always one Materia to pick up and there is maybe the Ultima Materia (break the window to pick up when it is. (zombie doesn't often pass through)
  • The middle way, there is sometimes 1 Materia. (zombie always pass through)
  • The right way, there is always one Materia to pick up, you can pass by the house or by the cinema. (zombie often pass through)

When you arrive at the door, activate the door ( the door open after 30 seconds) and cover the 3 ways, after it is open go to the second door (open after 10 seconds) , it can have the Earth Materia at the top of the pipes. When the door open, lot of players must cover the door and the other must go activate (when its write "door opening in 10 seconds", players who cover must join the other players), the door open activate the second door (open after 5 seconds). The door open go to the elevator and activate it ( you can take the Materia if there is it).

The elevator will descent after 10 seconds, when it is open, watch at the left if there is a Materia and at the top of the pipe if there is Ultima Materia (if it is take it at the return) then go to the stairs at the right, descend and take the Materia next the computers then the Materia behind the stairs if there is it. Go to the ladder and descend, go on the pipes then join Cloud at the bottom and after go to the reactor and cover if zombies are here. When zombies are teleported Bahamut arrive, you must kill it by shoot (don't going ahead or you will die).

When he is dead you must make the same way in reverse, if you have Gravity Materia use it when zombie arrive in the pipes then leave, you must join the elevator and activate it (elevator leaving after 10 secondes). When the elevator is in the room activate the Ultima Materia , 2 player must go activate the 3 buttons and the other player must cover (the door open after 10 seconds). Then follow Cloud but the ground break and you must run to the rope and go up, now RUN and go at the entrance of the bunker and shoot to stop the Sephiroth's attack (if you don't stop his attack you will die when you enter in the bunker) you win the HARD MODE.

It's possible to win without activate the buttons, but you must be very fast to go in the bunker, (with this technical, you don't have to kill sephiroth because you arrival about 2 seconds before the nuke and the finish mode's message appear).


AFTER THIS IS THE EXTREME LEVEL

Extreme ModeEdit


ZOMBIES HAVE 50000 HP (YOU CAN JUST KILL A ZOMBIE WITH ULTIMA MATERIA)

You start in the train, when doors are open you must go to the tunnel. After you can take 3 ways:

  • The left way, there is always one Materia to pick up and there is maybe the Ultima Materia (break the window to pick up when it is.
  • The middle way, there is sometimes 1 Materia.
  • The right way, there is always one Materia to pick up, you can pass by the house or by the cinema.

When you arrive at the door, activate the door ( the door open after 30 seconds) and cover the 3 ways, after it is open go to the second door (open after 10 seconds) , it can have the Earth Materia at the top of the pipes. When the door open, lot of players must cover the door and the other must go activate (when its write "door opening in 10 seconds", players who cover must join the other players), the door open activate the second door (open after 5 seconds). The door open go to the elevator and activate it (you can take the Materia if there is it). Use the Wind Materia to repel zombies, to they don't go in the elevator.

The elevator will descent after 10 seconds, when it is open, watch at the left if there is a Materia and at the top of the pipe if there is Ultima Materia (if it is take it at the return) then go to the stairs at the right, descend and take the Materia behind the stairs if there is it. Go to the ladder and descend, go on the pipes then descend the ladder, after go to the reactor and cover if zombies are here. When zombies are teleported Bahamut arrive, you must kill it by shoot it (don't going ahead or you will die).

Notes: In this mode the final attack of Bahamut kill you immediately

When he is dead you must make the same way in reverse, you must use Ice Materia and if you have Gravity Materia use it when zombie arrive in the pipes then leave, you must join the elevator and activate it (elevator leaving after 10 seconds). When the elevator is in the room, go to the door, when the message "doors open after 35 seconds" appear, activate the Ultima Materia. Cover as long as possible (if you can't cover more long time, go on the barrel gas). Then follow Cloud but the ground break and you must run to the rope and go up, now RUN and go at the entrance of the bunker and shoot to stop the Sephiroth's attack (if you don't stop his attack you will die when you enter in the bunker) and watch in the bunker Sephiroth will launch his final attack: A LASER, YOU MUST JUMP. If you survive you win the EXTREME MODE.


AFTER THIS IS THE EXTREME 2 LEVEL

Extreme 2 ModeEdit


You start in the train, when doors are open you must go to the tunnel, you can take 3 ways:

  • The left way, there is always one Materia to pick up.
  • The middle way, there is sometimes 1 Materia.
  • The right way, there is always one Materia to pick up, you can pass by the house or by the cinema.

When you arrive at the door, push the button ( the door open after 30 seconds) and cover the 3 ways (the box of the right way will break and the barrier of the left way will break), after it is open go to the second door (it open after 10 seconds then the pipes break) , it can have the Earth Materia at the top of the pipes. When the door open, lot of players must cover the door and the other must go activate (when its write "door opening in 10 seconds", players who cover must join the other players), when the door open activate the second door (open after 5 seconds). The door open go to the elevator and activate it ( you can take the Materia if there is it).

The elevator will descent after 10 seconds, when it is open, go to the stairs at the right, descend and take the Materia behind the stairs if there is it. Go to the ladder and descend, go on the pipes then descend the ladder and after go to the reactor (Take the Ultima Materia) and cover with Wind Materia. When zombies are teleported, Bahamut Red arrive, you must kill it by shoot it (don't going ahead or you will die).

ATTENTION: Bahamut Red has 90% more HP than Bahamut Normal. Bahamut will use the power of the Materia:

  • EARTH: he make a big wall of earth, you must break it by shoot on it
  • ICE: he make ice, you can't move but you can always shoot and after you will be slowed
  • FIRE: he make fire, you will be hurt except you go to the reactor
  • WIND: he make wind, you will be repel (if you are in the barrier, you will fall and dead)
  • ELECTRO: he make blue sparks, you will be hurt then kill except you go on the barrier
  • GRAVITY: he make black hole, you will be attract to Bahamut, go back or you will be hurt by Bahamut
  • HEAL: he heals 150 points
  • ULTIMA: he make a big red area of light while charging; after charging for 20 seconds it will explode killing all humans, you must use Heal Materia when its write "3 seconds before explosion" (if you don't use it, you are dead).

When Bahamut has used the 3rd time a power of a Materia, launch your grenade to hurt it and kill Bahamut more simple (if you don't use it, you will have the unluck to be kill by the last Bahamut's attack)


When he is dead you must make the same way in reverse, use the Ice Materia on the cage, if you have Gravity Materia use it when zombie arrive in the pipes then leave, you must join the elevator and activate it (elevator leaving after 10 seconds). When the elevator is in the room you must cover 35 seconds and count in your head 16 seconds then activate the Ultima Materia. When the door open, leave then shoot on Bahamut(if you have use Ultima at the good time bahamut will be dead without shoot on him), there is SEPHIROTH and he launch laser go at the right and crouch you, (launch your grenade if you have one) avoids the laser and SHOOT on Sephiroth when he is dead he ascend, crouch you and enter in the bunker.(If other players survive, stuck the door for they spend it). If you survive you win the EXTREME 2 MODE !!!!!


AFTER THIS IS THE ZM LEVEL

ZM ModeEdit


This is not a normal round like all the previous ones, this is a Zombie Mod round (A bit like Hide and Seek without the props). The area is limited from the spawn till the second door. You start in the train, when the doors open you are encouraged to find a good hiding place where you'll have to cover during 4 minutes. All of the Materia can be taken except Earth, because it can be abused for reaching some of the latter unreachable locations.

When there's 20 seconds left before the end, the music changes and all areas are covered by a big green light (a giant Ultima). When the nuke falls, everything explodes and zombies will be killed.

Congratulations, you have finished all modes of FFVII Mako Reactor!

NotesEdit


  • 6914 will-ferrell-cowbell

    A cowbell.

    In Extreme II, if you destroy the 15 cowbells, Bahamut won't use the power of materia for one round, then there will be no more cowbells.
  • In the second round of ZM Mode, break the windows where there was the "Ultima" Materia, the door is open go in it and you are teleported to the "Levels Room", choose a button to make a level choice for the next round. You are teleported outside after 20 seconds.
    • The button "Kill All" is available after choosing the level. As the name suggests, all players will be slayed after pressing it, to save time for the next round.
  • If you won Extreme II, after you passed the tunnel, you get more speed, 50.000 HP, and your model color change.
